Albufeira, Algarve Portugal

The boys hang loose in Albufeira.

The marina in Albufeira is well protected and the entrance is almost as entering in a tunnel or a water lock. We stoped at the reception pontoon where the marina had an ARC-flag indicating that yachts attended to the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers has an discount. As Mon Ami is carrying the same ARC-flag for our planed Atlantic crossing did we get a discount and paid only 40 Euro for one night stay.

While taking a well deserved “anchor drink” in the cockpit did we enjoy the Bungee jump from a marina based lifting crane.

From where we were sitting did it look almost like a touch down, and really scary!

Later we took the 15 min walk from the marina to the Albufeira village that surround the beachfront.

The restaurant owner had s nice Port Wine collection including Mats year 1966!

Leaving Lagos Marina for a few days sailing with friends.

The Marina in Lagos is perfectly situated near by city center, Sopromar shipyard, railway station, beach, seaside bars and restaurant and a good Pingo Doce grocery shop.

After early morning shopping at Pingo’s did we enjoy a nice breakfast and where ready for departure. First a safety check with the new crew and then we called the marina office on VHF ch9. In Lagos you need to request the marina office to open the gangway bride to leave the marina.

Outside of Lagos beach was this Batman-trimaran at anchor.

But even more eye catching was the foil sailing dingy that raised out of the water at appealingly no wind at all.

New crew for a week sailing Algarve coast.

The season 2018 starts with a week sailing and golf with friends. In Lagos, Portugal are Mats joined by five friends, Jörgen Lindahl, Peter Furster, Mikael Olsson, Jonas Persson and Sören Augustsson.

The team sailed together on Mon Ami 3 years ago in Greece. While on anchorage in a lagoon at the Greek island Kyra we founded the “Kyra Invest” Foundation. During 3 years have the six members put in 300 Sek each per month in to Kyra Invest. The money has been placed in equity funds and increased 20%!

Now it’s time to make good use of the investment. Kyra Invest is paying for this sailing and golf week including flight tickets, marina mooring fees, green fees and dinners!

Jonas Persson, Sören Augustsson, Pester Furster, Mikael Olsson and Jörgen Lindahl enjoys the first breakfast in the cockpit.
